Hey RedHawks!
My Name is Cole Tyman and I am running to be your next Student Body President.
I am Junior Marketing & Individualized Studies Major born in Philadelphia and raised across the Delaware River in New Jersey. When picking colleges, I never expected to end up in Ohio. The first time I set foot in this state was when I came to visit Miami after I got accepted. Nonetheless, I am beyond thrilled for the decision that I made.
I have loved Miami from the moment I stepped onto campus and the chance to serve as Student Body President is very exciting. I began my time here living in Havighurst Hall. While at Miami I have been an active member of Pi Sigma Epsilon business fraternity where I have met some of my closest friends. I have also represented the university as a tour guide since my freshman year. Additionally, I have spent the last two years as an RA in Peabody Hall. In addition to all of this service to Miami, I spent my spring break lobbying to federal and state legislatures on behalf of the school.
On top of my other commitments, I have been extremely active in Associated Student Government. My freshman year, I served as the Senator from Havighurst and worked on a variety of issues. These included changing the roommate survey process for incoming students and getting the Greystone Market on Western Campus open until 10pm on weekdays. All of this work and more earned me the 2011-2012 ASG Senator of the Year award.
After my time as a Senator, I was elected by my peers as the Secretary for On-Campus Affairs for Associated Student Government. In this position I have worked on all issues related to Housing, Dining, Parking, Transportation and any other non-academic issues that take place on campus. Some of my accomplishments here include ensuring the Pulley Diner and Emporium Market in the Armstrong Student Center were open 24 hours a day, and getting parking lots to open up for students at 6pm starting next Fall.
I have had so many amazing experiences at Miami. My love for the Red & White knows no bounds. I have expereience and track record of getting things done for students, and that is why I am running for Student Body President. I want to hear from you, so email me at tymancr@MiamiOH.edu!
I want to work to be your Voice...The Voice of Miami!
Love & Honor,
Cole Tyman
